The Bus Driver is a Serbian immigrant who has only been in the country 12 years. The Baby was a recent refugee from Burma who wandered outside the family’s apartment after pushing a door open while no one was watching, in below freezing temperatures. The Mother of the baby is a Rohingya refugee dealing with PTSD mental health issues from surviving the massacre in Burma and is brand new to the country. She was hospitalized after breaking down after her baby was saved but has been released now. The Woman in the nurse’s uniform who gave up her coat to keep the child warm is the daughter of parents from Ghana.
I just want yall to know that the fact that the unemployment rate in the united states being super low is actually a very very bad thing. Do you know what this means?
It means less people are looking for jobs they actually like, or they actually fit in … this means folks are so desperate to pay for their lives they’ll take anything.
Unemployment rate down being touted as a good thing is absolutely fucking disgusting how they’re manipulating language to make a terrible thing sound good.

This is happening in the U.K. too, maybe not in exactly the same way but it’s very similar. The Tory government just doesn’t give a shit and they wonder why so many working class and young people are constantly being diagnosed with depression. Hard work, passion and dedication means nothing anymore here.

The low *official* unemployment rate does not factor in those who are underemployed (only working so many hours but wants/needs to work more), and those who do not have a job, and have given up looking for one. Currently it is at 7.6%
